Gig Information

As part of NZ Music Month 2017, Flight 605 and Soho Wine are proud to present four free entry curated boutique music shows, bringing some of Auckland’s best emerging and established talent to the public in an intimate setting.

THE MAP ROOM
The Map Room combine their love for well-constructed pop songs and embellished instrumentation with themes of displacement and motion inspired in part by their travels through South America.
They have crafted a sound which reaches from solo acoustic guitar to full band dynamics, rich with synthesizers, piano and electric guitar - drawing on inspiration from influential indie bands such as Radiohead, The National, Metronomy, Grizzly Bear, Spoon and Phoenix.

MULHOLLAND
Mulholland is the moniker for Christchurch raised, Auckland based Jol Mulholland (Gasoline Cowboy, The Mots, The Reduction Agents). His critically acclaimed Taite Prize-nominated sophomore album Stop and Start Again has had regular air-play on radio and TV since its release in September 2014, and the single ‘Cry if you want to’ was shortlisted for the 2014 Silver Scroll Awards.
His love of creating and crafting hook-filled, off-kilter pop music has gained him a reputation as an artist and creator of music that defies fads and trends, and his talents and skills as a musician have taken him and his music around the world, working with industry names in NZ, the UK, Europe and the US. Following a two-year stint living in New York while touring, Jol is now based in Auckland, NZ.

ECHO CHILDREN
Echo Children performed their first show in Auckland in late 2015 and released their first single, ‘Turn to Stone’ in April 2016. After honing their sound and establishing themselves on the live scene, they have been in the studio recording their first e.p. to be released in February 2017.
The four-piece, comprising Oliver Young (vocals and guitar) from Scotland, Amanda Larsson (bass and vocals), of Sweden, Daniel Armstrong (vocals and guitar), from the UK, and Niamh O’Flynn (percussion and vocals), from Canada, have created a sound which fuses the lyrical songwriting of the likes of Springsteen and Ryan Adams with the spine chilling harmonies of Fleetwood Mac.
