Arturo Baez (Mexico City)
Arturo Báez is a Mexican double bassist and electric bassist whose music moves between jazz, free improvisation and spontaneous collective creation. For more than 15 years, he has been an active presence in Mexico’s improvised music scene, collaborating with internationally acclaimed artists including Ken Vandermark, Joe Morris, Chris Corsano, Michael Zerang, Sam Newsome and Isaiah Collier. His international work includes performances at the No Idea Festival in Austin and across the United States, Europe and Asia. He is a member of the Remi Álvarez Trio and leads Otrora un Simulacro, an original jazz ensemble that features his compositions.
