We are pretty bloody excited to announce the date for this year’s Crawchella is locked and loaded!
Join us on 17 December in our humble backyard for a tantalising line-up of live music and fun in the sun, followed by a selection of Wellington’s finest DJs who’ll keep the vibe alive and get the indoor floor heaving. Oh boy, this one is gonna be a doozy!
The line-up so far (more to be announced!):
GARDEN STAGE
King Homeboy
Born deaf, King Homeboy has defied all odds to become an internationally acclaimed beatboxer and musician, ranked third in the world, and is the six time beatbox champion of New Zealand, holding a world record for his incredible talents.
Tarns Hood
Tarns is a Performance and Slam poet, although has now retired from comps because the slam scoring system is bullsh*t!!!
Yeah, she’s still a little dark from her recent loss, but lost for words, she’s not!
Dropping quick, slick, beatnik rant poetry, Tarns jams words into rhymes and spits irreverent, deep, funny and meaningful verse that knocks that trauma, tropey, terrible poetry that makes people hate poetry, outta the park.
Iskra
Iskra have emerged from beneath the earth, bringing fiery grooves to reignite your soul. This trio features musicians from the Wellington jazz scene and is bringing original London-style Street-Jazz to Wellington. Featuring Josh Buckler (tenor saxophone), Henry Smithers (sousaphone) and David McGurk (drums).
Tree
Yes, that’s right. Wellington’s famous flute and sax-playing tree. Right in our backyard!
Se Tú / Be You
A punk rock three piece that also combines rhythms such as ska and synths. Sung in Spanish and English, and providing some tunes to bang your head to while getting angry at the political system.
The Doublejumps
All the way from Taranaki, featuring the unique songwriting style of singer/guitarist Kayleb Duckett (formerly of Serious Happiness), the solid bass and beautiful harmony vocal of Olivia Day and the relentlessly tight drumming of Rodney Cruden-Powell, the band bring a completely fresh sound to the tried and true Rock ‘n’ Roll three-piece format.
Jordan Stewart (Once you know)
Jordan wrote and recorded two albums on a Deluge back in the 2020 lockdown. These songs became the basis for 'Once you know' and this will be his first time performing them solo.
Plus special, surprise guests!
