Auckland Folk Festival 2027 Second Lineup Announced - Evie Bamford, Just Janie + More
The place to be for any self-respecting local folkie, even more acts have been announced for the 2027 Auckland Folk Festival, happening (as tradition dictates) during Auckland Anniversary Weekend this summer at Kumeū Showgrounds. One of Aotearoa New Zealand's longest running festivals of any kind— the 1973 Folk Gathering poster boasts: "Formal concert, workshops and hangi. B.Y.O.G. and jam 'till the wee small hours" — the coming event promises to be a four day, five stage whānau-friendly spectacular, featuring a kids stage, a variety of workshops, food trucks ("for every diet"), and family camping spots.
New local acts revealed this morning include Aotearoa songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Evie Bamford, who recently unveiled her accomplished debut EP Now Rising, Now Falling, and Ōtautahi Christchurch rising songwriter Just Janie, who spoke with UTR interviewer Tasha Tziakis about her engrossing debut album Mythology of the Girls. More special guests from beyond our shores include award-winning fiddle and wooden flute duo Robert Zielinski and Manuela Centanni, who'll regale attendees with "traditional Irish music alongside Robert’s original compositions."
They're joining an already substantial first lineup which includes 2026 Best Folk Artist Tūī winner Ny Oh, groove-igniting Ōtautahi Christchurch big band Yurt Party, Nashville, Tennessee-based songwriter / guitarist Cy Winstanley, US songwriter Jeff Davis, Australian multi-award-winners Apolline, Irish folk collective Tulua, plus loads more. Peruse the full updated details below and be sure to bring your friends and fam along to Aotearoa NZ's largest folk festival, from 29th January to 1st February...
"We’re so proud of the festival we’ve built for 2027 and it’s so exciting to see people responding to our lineup. I can’t wait to watch it all unfold in Kumeu this January!" - Emily Roughton, Festival Programme & Artist Coordinator
