The Undercurrent presents the Wellington Calling Open Mic!
The Undercurrent is hosting the Wellington Calling Open Mic and we're looking for diverse acts to contribute! Each performer gets the chance to have a six-minute set with a microphone, guitar and piano provided. This is an originals only event. We want to encourage new creative voices to be heard. “We want to provide a positive and encouraging environment for established and fledgling acts to shine in. It's a pretty inspiring place to perform,” says host Steven Hood.
Each performer will need to sign up in person before 7:30pm and registrations of interest need to be emailed to openwandw@gmail.com before November 5.
The feature act is Brittle Star, who are known for twining their long arms around each other when the seagrass has died back and there is nothing to cling to. Brittle Star is a new Pōneke folk project by songwriter Britta Hamill: tender and catchy songs about things like geese and falling in love with your friends, brought to life by a band of pals.
