UTR Ticketing Service Winding Down

UTR Ticketing Service Winding Down

There's some big shakeups happening at UnderTheRadar: we are winding down our ticketing service, which has been operational since 2008 (Sommerset was the very first ticketed gig), after nearly two decades of serving our incredible music community. Founder and chief Daryl Fincham says this decision has been made not due to competition — in fact the ticketing side of UTR has continued to expand the entire time — but in view of "the current pace of future tech and AI threats, we no longer think our grassroots indie ticketing site is positioned to manage these upcoming threats."

Of very high importance to current ticketers and ticket holders: all current services remain the same and valid, we are simply not accepting future ticket bookings — any questions please contact our Helpdesk team HERE.

Crucially, UTR's Music News Editorial Department and Nationwide Gig Guide will continue operating as usual (with myself as news editor, send news tips HERE), no need for tears / gnashing of teeth.

We have loved working with everyone as your local independent ticketing service. Read the full official statement for ticketers below (including some very useful info), and learn about the multi-decade evolution of your humble Aotearoa New Zealand music site with our oral history HERE, and UTR's 20th birthday interview with Daryl Fincham HERE.

"Hello friends,

We are making some changes to our ticketing, which will no doubt affect you.

Some of you have been ticketing with us from the start, over 18 years, and we thank you for the love and the trust you have put in us.

We are winding down the ticketing side to UTR.

Our Music News Editorial Dept and Nationwide Gig Guide will remain operating as usual, and continue to be the place where people can find out about what's good and going on in Aotearoa NZ.

What is the reason? With the current pace of future tech and AI threats, we no longer think our grassroots indie ticketing site is positioned to manage these upcoming threats.

This is getting clearer every week, and we don't have the capacity to fight the fight. Time for us to bow out from this area.

Current Ticketed Events: All currently loaded tickets will run their course, just new ones being added will need to be added elsewhere.

Other options for ticketing: As we have seen through the Gig Guide there are numerous great alternatives out there, from locals Eventfinda, Flicket and iTicket, to the internationals like Humantix.

The end of an era, and the beginning of a new one! Thanks for the support with ticketing over the years, it has meant so much to us to be aligned with such great venues, promoters and artists."
