Weekly Round Up: Friday 8th August

Friday 8th August, 2014 4:00PM

OHHHHKAYYYY!!! Tour announcements picked up a little more speed this week with crunk-meister Lil Jon announcing he will be hitting Auckland in October for a one-off show. Baritone rapper Chali 2na is a little more prepared to spread himself around, announcing four dates across the country during the month of September with his backing band House of Vibe, which should more than make up for the two solo shows he cancelled back in April. British musician Joan Armatrading has decided she will be doing her last major world tour and has included three intimate shows in New Zealand in her schedule. And Australian blues musician Shaun Kirk has booked in a whole bunch of dates around the country in support of the release of his new album Steer the Wheel.

In release news, Auckland-based musician Ron Gallipoli (the solo moniker of the Sharpie Crows frontman) let loose his new album Everybody Loves Ron Gallipoli, which is jammed full with his trademark sardonic wit. The Datsuns have given up a taster of their forthcoming album Deep Sleep with the release of dark-psych single 'Caught In The Silver'. Punk trio Die! Die! Die! have unveiled third single 'Get Hit' with a simple yet effective video, ahead of the release of their highly-anticipated record S W I M next week. And finally, British trio Alt-J shared track 'Left Hand Free' with a beautifully shot video to give fans further insight of what to expect with the upcoming release of sophomore album This Is All Yours.

This week's Caught Live is a well-captured fan video of Perfume Genius performing at OFF Festival in Poland, and included two new songs in his set, opening with 'I Decline' and 'My Body' around the 10-minute mark. We've been loving his single 'Queen' so reckon this is worth checking out...
